Syracuse, NY -- Former New York Mayor Ed Koch will be outside Syracuse City Hall Friday morning to promote the organization NY Uprising and lawmakers and candidates who have signed the group’s pledge to reform Albany.Koch, who led New York City from 1978 to 1989 and founded NY Uprising earlier this year, is touring Upstate New York praising as “Heroes of Reform” those who have signed the pledge calling for financial disclosure by lawmakers and candidates, limits on political donations by lobbyists and banning political donations by those doing business with the state.
Koch has called those who haven’t signed the pledge “Enemies of Reform.”
Organizers said Koch will be at City Hall at 9 a.m., accompanied by a half dozen or so lawmakers who have signed the pledge.
One who hasn’t signed the pledge is Assemblyman William Magnarelli. In a letter to the editor received by The Post-Standard Thursday, Magnarelli said, “signing pledges from advocacy groups is precarious, as the devil is often hidden in the details.”
