Syracuse, NY -- A Syracuse man has been charged in the shooting of another man Wednesday on the Onondaga Nation, sheriff’s deputies announced.
Bayon T. Hunter, 25, of 1009 Ballantyne Road, Syracuse, was charged Wednesday with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Hunter is accused of shooting Sean Turner, 26, of Riverdale Drive, Syracuse, in the neck early Wednesday morning near a dam off of Route 11A. Turner was found later in the morning by deputies after he attempted to flag down passing motorists.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that Turner was with Hunter at the time of the incident. Detectives described Hunter as Turner’s friend.
Turner and Hunter drive to the Onondaga Nation and were using cocaine just before Hunter shot Turner, deputies said. The gun was recovered, deputies said.
Turner was treated at Upstate University Hospital for the wound to the neck and released, deputies said.
Hunter was arraigned Wednesday night in Onondaga Town Court and ordered held at the county Justice Center on $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond.
