Onondaga Nation -- A man found shot in the neck this morning near a reservoir on the Onondaga Nation was wounded as a cocaine deal turned into a robbery attempt, Onondaga County sheriff's deputies said.
Sean Turner, 26, of Riverdale Drive, Syracuse, was found this morning after motorists on Route 11A reported a man attempting to flag down traffic, deputies said. Deputies were called to the scene about 5:45 a.m.
According to deputies, Turner met a man on Syracuse's Southside and got into the man's car with the intention of buying cocaine. The man drove Turner on to the Onondaga Nation and parked the car by a dam near Route 11A, deputies said.
Turner and the man got out of the car and the suspect fired a handgun at Turner, deputies said. Turner fell with a wound to the neck, got up and ran into the woods, deputies said.
After coming out of the woods several hours later and attempting to stop motorists, Turner was taken to Upstate University Hospital with a wound not believed to be life threatening, deputies said.
Deputies are looking for a black man between 20 and 30 years old, weighs about 160 pounds and stands between 5 foot 8 inches and 5 foot 10 inches. The man was last seen driving a red four-door sedan. Anyone with any information is asked to contact deputies at 435-3081.
