Syracuse, NY -- Police have released more information about the car chase and crash Tuesday through Syracuse’s Strathmore section that damaged a Glenwood Avenue woman’s garage.
Officers responding to a “shots fired” complaint about 12:05 a.m. Tuesday at the 1600 block of Bellevue Avenue saw a Cadillac Escalade sport utility vehicle speed away. Police gave chase. The driver refused to pull over, but lost control of the SUV at South Geddes Street and Glenwood Avenue and crashed into the attached garage at a ranch-style house at 845 Glenwood, police said.
Two of the SUV’s three occupants fled, police said.
One, the driver, identified by police as Adrian Esteras, 26, of 309 Merriman Ave., Syracuse, was found inside the home. He was charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree assault, resisting arrest, third-degree unlawful fleeing and reckless operation, police said.
The second man, whom police said earlier fled through Elmwood Park and was caught near Hutchinson Avenue, has been identified as Gregory Darrain, 20, of of 309 Oswego St., Syracuse. Darrain was not charged and was released, police said.
The third occupant remained inside the SUV. Police identified her as Jennifer Hirsh, 23, of Phoenix, N.Y. She was treated at a local hospital for a minor injury and released, police said.
