Syracuse, NY – A Syracuse man was charged with felony weapon possession after an incident Sunday on the city’s near west side.
Syracuse police were called about 7:40 p.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of South Geddes Street for a complaint of a suspicious person with a gun. When Officer Jason D’Addio tried to approach a man fitting the suspect’s description, the man took off on foot, displaying a handgun as he did, police said.
D’Addio caught up with the man, Cruz Claudio, in the 300 block of Fitch Street, took him into custody and recovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun, police said.
Claudio, 24, of 309 Merriman Ave., was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and held in the Justice Center Jail, police said.
