Syraucse, NY -- Hundreds of children and adults turned out Friday afternoon for an Emergency Responders Fair at The Father’s Heart Ministries on Butternut Street, in Syracuse.

The ministry often tries to offer something different to the community it serves on the city’s Northside, and in the past has held fairs at different parks, said Pastor James Gebhardt.

A community policing center is located in the ministry’s building at 909 Butternut St. and the ministry wanted to use the fair as a way to introduce community members to the people who protect them, he said.

The fair took place from 2 to 5 p.m. Everyone was treated to free hot dogs, snow cones, popcorn, and baked goods donated by Price Chopper.

Children took turns climbing into a city fire truck, police cars and motorcycle. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department also provided a car and Rural/Metro was there with an ambulance.
