Syracuse, NY -- A Chittenango woman who jumped into a Syracuse police cruiser Wednesday afternoon outside an Eastwood bar, drove off with it and then promptly crashed into two cars in a parking lot, is facing a variety of charges.
Amy Cady, 39, of 1643 Chestnut Ridge Road, is charged with grand larceny, a felony, driving while intoxicated and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors, and driving on a sidewalk, speeding and operating a vehicle without a seat belt, all motor vehicle violations.
Sgt. Kevin Blair was identified by Syracuse police as the officer who was in possession of the car prior to it being stolen. Syracuse police declined to say whether Blair faces any discipline in the matter.
Cady flagged down Blair while she was lying on the pavement in front of the East Room bar at North Collingwood Avenue and James Street, witnesses and police said.
As Blair was trying to sort out what was going on, Cady went behind Blair, jumped in the patrol car and drove north on North Collingwood before turning into the back parking lot of the James Street branch of Key Bank and striking two parked cars, police said.
