David Trebilcock, 30, had to have stitches after another inmate beat him while he was in Oneida County Jail
Utica, NY -- A Sherrill man accused of stabbing to death of his girlfriend’s 6-year-old daughter in July was beaten this week in the Oneida County Jail, the Oneida County sheriff said.
David Trebilcock, 30, is in jail awaiting trial on murder, assault and weapon charges in the July 19 death of Lauren Belius in a Sherrill home he shared with his girlfriend. On Wednesday morning, he was assaulted by Shaun Andrews, another inmate, in a dormitory area of the jail, Sheriff Robert Maciol said today.
Trebilcock was injured and was taken to a Utica hospital for stitches to close wounds to his face, Maciol said. The incident is still under investigation by deputies and officials are unsure of why Trebilcock was attacked, Maciol said.
Trebilcock is pressing charges against Andrews, Maciol said. The sheriff said he expects formal charges to be lodged in a couple of days.
