'Maybe we don't want to be hit by anyone using a cell phone while driving, including a cop.'

2010-04-15-dl-ticket2.JPGOnondaga Co. Sheriff's Deputy Mike Hoosock uses the computer in his patrol car as he issues a ticket to a driver for cell phone use on Grant Boulevard near the intersection of Teall Avenue during the April crackdown.

Syracuse launched a crackdown today on texting and phoning while driving. Emergency responders, such as police and firefighters, are exempt from the law prohibiting the practice. Here's what noroute has to say:

"Maybe we'll keep hashing over it because they aren't safer people JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE COPS. If they are using a cell phone while moving it's just as dangerous. Maybe we don't want to be hit by anyone using a cell phone while driving, including a cop. Now try and tell me no cops have been involved in accidents while on their phones."
