Syracuse, NY -- Syracuse police arrested the person they say fired several shots during a large fight where another man was stabbed early Saturday outside a West Fayette Street American Legion post.
Brandon Nieves, 18, of 120 Crippen Place, was charged Wednesday with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.
Police were called about 12:20 p.m. to the post at 1951 W. Fayette St., where a birthday party had been held and several fights occurred as it broke up. As police were trying to break up one of the fights, they heard five gunshots fired.
Witnesses identified Nieves as the man who fired the gunshots, Sgt. Tom Connellan said.
