Auburn, NY -- Number one on Auburn's list of Top 10 fugitives was caught 15 minutes after the list came out Wednesday, police said.
Joseph Michael Hares, 41, whose last known address was 55 Market St., Apt. 4, was wanted on charges of felony forgery, criminal possession of stolen property for an incident early June 20. He was also wanted on a warrant charging criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, both misdemeanors.
Hares is accused of stealing a bar patron's credit card and using it at the Hess Express gas station in downtown Auburn, said Lt. Shawn Butler. About $230 was racked up on the card.
Hares topped a list published Wednesday of Auburn's most wanted fugitives. Fifteen minutes later, Deputy U.S. Marshal Christopher Amoia, who works in the Syracuse office, called Auburn police with Hares in custody.
