Syracuse, NY - Two former employees of the St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center admitted in court today to stealing from elderly patients under their care.
Tabitha Valentin, 21, and Stephanie Pritchard, 25, both pleaded guilty before Onondaga County Judge William Walsh to felony counts of fourth-degree grand larceny for thefts that occurred while they were employed as certified nurse assistants at St. Camillus in the town of Geddes.
Valentin admitted stealing a necklace with a cross from around the neck of one elderly sleeping patient on Sept. 7. Pritchard admitted stealing bracelets from the wrist of another elderly patient who was sleeping on Nov. 11.
Assistant Attorney General Paul Berry said told Walsh the pleas satisfy potential charges from numerous additional thefts from a number of patients at St. Camillus over a period of about eight to 10 months.
Valentin will be required to pay restitution up to $2,270 to cover her thefts. Pritchard will be required to pay restitution up to $3,170 to cover her thefts.
Both lost their jobs and their CNA certification.
Sentencing is Sept. 29.
