A local high school referee is suing the Springfield School District for injuries he suffered when a toddler-driven golf cart struck him before an October 2008 Thurston High football game. Some Internet sites posted security camera footage of the bizarre crash among sports “bloopers,” and one local television reporter described the collision as “the biggest hit of the night” at the Thurston-North Eugene game.
But a lawsuit filed last week by Kenneth Lee Brooks makes clear the accident was no laughing matter.
In his $265,000 claim, Brooks said he suffered a concussion and permanent damage to a spinal cord disc, among other injuries.
