Town of Enfield, NY—Human remains found last week in Tompkins County have been positively identified as Vincent F. Williams, 31, a disabled man who was reported missing in March, state police said this morning.

Dr. James Terzian, a forensic pathologist at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton and Dr. Dawnie Stedman, a forensic anthropologist at Binghamton University, made the identification based on Williams’ previous radiology records.

Police said they have not determined how Williams died and their investigation continues.

The Tompkins County Department of Social Services reported Williams missing to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office on March 26.

Williams, of 1774 Mecklenberg Road in the Town of Enfield, was described as being about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He used a wheelchair because of a leg amputation, according the sheriff’s office website.

His remains were found at about 6:45 a.m. July 1 in a wooded area off Halseyville Road. Williams’ home is not too far away from where the remains were found, police said.
