Syracuse, NY -- Heat will take a break and rain, maybe lots of it, will dominate for the next day or so.

Forecasters say the heat wave that sent temperatures into the 90s the past four days will be pushed out by a cold front that will bring showers and thunderstorms Friday and into Saturday. Rain totals could top 2 inches as a weather system to the south causes the front to stall over Central New York.

Temperatures will top out in the low to middle 80s and sunshine should return Sunday, with the high heat making its comeback on Monday.

The heat returns Monday with temperatures expected to be back in the high 80s.
