Other high ranking New York schools: Binghamton, Cornell, Colgate and Union.
According to a recent Businessweek report, Syracuse University comes in at 147 out of 554 schools for its college degree's long-term worth.
Businessweek created a charting tool with the help of PayScale, which collects pay information using its online pay comparison tools. It also compiled information from the 1.4 million reports on U.S. college graduates from Bloomberg Businessweek and put price tags on college diplomas awarded this year.
With all this information, Businessweek then created an interactive table, titled, "What's your college degree worth?" that lists the college degree value from schools throughout the nation. It includes graduation rates, tuition costs, 30-year net return on investments, 30-year net return for graduates and the annualized ROI percentage on investment.
The 30-year net return on an investment in a Syracuse University degree comes in at $618,500. The investment, or education cost, on average is reported to be $178,700. This includes books, supplies, living expenses and tuition while attending college.
According to the report, Syracuse grads can expect an overall 30-year net return of $773,100 on a Syracuse University degree.
The report does not break the returns down by major, but gives an overall average of return based on all post-graduate information.
Syracuse University has an 80 percent graduation rate, according to the report.
Some other New York schools that placed high on the list include Binghamton University (with in-state tuition costs) at 109, Colgate University at 18, Cornell University at 28, and Union College at 13.
