Bridgeport, NY – Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies have identified the motorcyclist hurt last night in an accident on Route 298 as David Harp Jr., 39, of Wampsville.

Harp was driving a three-wheel Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Route 298 in a no-passing zone just south of Route 31 shortly after 8 p.m., deputies said. Harp tried to pass the vehicle in front of his but the right back tire of his motorcycle hit the other vehicle, causing Harp to lose control and cross into the oncoming lane, where he was hit by another vehicle, deputies said.

Harp was taken to Upstate University Hospital with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.

Earlier, Undersheriff Warren Darby said that the victim, whom he did not identify, had been carrying a wheelchair on his motorcycle because he had lost the use of his legs in a previous motorcycle accident.

According to Syracuse.com archives, a David Harp Jr., then 36, of Canastota, was critically injured when he lost control of the motorcycle he was driving on the evening of June 5, 2007, on Stephens Road, Lenox. That man lay all night on the side of the road before being found the next morning by a passerby.
