Update:
Meridian, NY – A Meridian woman ran from the home where her boyfriend allegedly slit her throat early this morning to a neighbor’s house to get help and call police, a Cayuga County Sheriff’s official said.
A deputy arriving shortly after 12:18 a.m. found Lacie Dodge, 28, of 3099 Route 370, -- with a severe cut to her throat -- at the neighbor’s house and Dodge’s boyfriend, Christopher J. Kelly, 27, of the same address, in the street between the two homes, Lt. Joseph J. Weeks said.
The deputy took Kelly into custody without incident, then helped give first aid to Dodge until emergency medical help arrived, Weeks said.
Dodge was taken to Upstate University Hospital where she was in fair condition this morning, the sheriff’s office said.
Kelly was arraigned in Auburn City Court this morning and charged with second-degree attempted murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, and two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Judge Michael McKeon ordered Kelly held at the Cayuga County Jail on bail of $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond.
Two children, the couple’s 2-year-old son and the 10-year-old daughter of a family friend, were present during part of the incident, leading to the endangering charge, Weeks said. The children are staying with a family friend, he said.
Weeks said investigators have spoken to Dodge at the hospital but that he could not disclose what she said or what led to the alleged attack. He also declined to identify the neighbors who helped Dodge.
He said deputies believe the weapon used was a fixed-blade sport knife.
The investigation is continuing, Weeks said.

Meridian, NY – A Meridian man was charged with second-degree attempted murder and several other counts this morning after he allegedly cut his girlfriend’s throat at their home, Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould said.
Christopher J. Kelly, 27, of 3099 Route 370, is being held at Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail or $500,000 bond following arraignment in Auburn City Court, Gould said. Besides the attempted murder count, he faces another felony weapons possession count and two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The victim, Lacie Dodge, 28, also of 3099 Route 370, was in fair condition at Upstate University Hospital, where she was taken for treatment of a severe cut to the throat, Gould said.
Deputies took Kelly into custody after they responded shortly after midnight to Dodge’s call to Cayuga County 911 for help, Gould said. Dodge told 911 that Kelly had cut her throat with a knife, he said.
Two children, ages 10 and 2, who were in the house were not injured.
