Bath, NY — Police say a 25-year-old woman and her 3-month-old child were killed during an apparent domestic dispute in Upstate New York and the woman’s ex-boyfriend is under arrest.
Bath Police Chief David Rouse says the victims, Trieste R. Clayton and her son, Xavier Michael Ashline, were found by officers sent to a home in the Steuben County village just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday because of an open phone line.
The Elmira Star-Gazette reported that the suspect, Bryan Ashline, 23, of Watervliet, was arrested Monday morning while sleeping in his car at a rest stop in Otsego County. He was located through Onstar, police told the Star-Gazette. He’s set to be arraigned on second-degree murder charges.
Clayton had an order of protection against Ashline; he was charged with third-degree assault last August, the Star-Gazette said.
Bath is about 60 miles south of Rochester.
