Syracuse, NY – Richmond County District Attorney Daniel M. Donovan Jr. will bring his campaign for New York Attorney General to Onondaga County on Monday, declaring his candidacy within walking distance of the office of a potential rival.

Donovan has scheduled a news conference for 3:45 p.m. on the steps of the Onondaga County Courthouse to declare his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the job. Among his rivals for the nomination is Onondaga County Comptroller Robert E. Antonacci II, whose office is housed in the Mulroy Civic Center next to the courthouse.

Antonacci said he was "very well received" by the state Republican executive committee during an interview Friday in Albany. They encouraged him to stay in the attorney general race and he is doing so, he said.

"I think Mr. Donovan had already planned to be in Onondaga County. I certainly don’t look at him coming into Onondaga County as anything other than him looking to meet people and make his case to be attorney general," Antonacci said. "I welcome him."

Donovan, 53, has been Staten Island’s DA since 2003. His campaign has a Web site at www.dandonovan.org.
