State police have charged a Syracuse man with selling counterfeit purses, shoes, clothing and sunglasses near the Central New York Regional Market.Police charged Jerry M. Prosonic, 66, of 406 Avery Ave., with trademark counterfeiting in the second degree, a felony.
The arrest came after a month-long investigation prompted by a complaint. With a search warrant, police entered a storage facility rented by Prosonic and seized about $30,000 worth of counterfeit Coach, Prada, Kate Spade, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Louis Vuitton bags, wallets, shoes, sneakers, clothing a sunglasses, police said in a release.
Prosonic is due in Syracuse city court June 30. In the meantime, he has been released on his own recognizance.
The investigation was carried out by the state police special investigation unit and the troopers from the North Syracuse barracks.
