Syracuse, NY -- Syracuse police armed with a search warrant discovered bags of heroin in a North Salina Street pawn shop Monday, arresting the manager in front of his 10-year-old son, police records state.
Police entered the Two of a Kind pawn shop, 832 N. Salina St., about 2:30 p.m. and located 50 envelopes of heroin, also known as a “brick,” police records state.
A brick of heroin sells for about $400, police said. The individual envelopes of heroin are resold at $10 to $20 an envelope, police said.
David Michael, 40, of 317 Turtle St., who police identified as the manager of the pawn shop, was charged with one felony and one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Because police said Michael’s son was present when the heroin was allegedly dropped off at the pawn shop, Michael was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Police also seized $210 from the pawn shop’s cash register as being possible proceeds of drug sales, records state.
As the raid was taking place, police also stopped the car of the two men police alleged delivered the heroin to the pawn shop, records state.
John Nunez, 29, of 316 Otisco St., and Wilfredo Santos, 45, of 208 Otisco St., were both charged with one felony and one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
In addition, police seized $441 they found in the pocket of Santos as being possible proceeds of drug sales, records state.
