Saratoga Springs, NY -- An Oswego man was struck by a car and killed in Saratoga Springs as he was walking to a motel following the Dave Matthews concert there Friday night, according to a report in the Albany Times Union.
The paper identified the man as Edward Bernys, 42, of Oswego. Bernys was hit by an SUV as he was crossing Route 9, the paper reported. He was pronounced dead at Saratoga Hospital.
The car and other vehicles pulled over to tend to Bernys and called for help, police said.
The driver of the SUV was not arrested and the driver's name was not released. The death appears to be an accident, although police won't rule out anything until the investigation is over, Sgt. John Catone told the Glens Falls Post-Star newspaper.
Catone said it will take up to 10 weeks until a toxicology report is done before police know if Bernys had been intoxicated.
Police said Bernys was returning to his room at the Top Hill Motel on Route 9 when the accident occurred at 11:55 p.m.
