Salina, NY -- One teen is in jail, two others are facing juvenile charges and police are looking for a fourth after a robbery was reported at Shop City Plaza Friday afternoon.
Onondaga sheriff’s deputies responded to the shopping center in the Town of Salina shortly before 2 p.m., police said, on a report of a robbery.
According to a release from the sheriff’s department, four teens were suspected of shoplifting at AJ Wright store and were confronted by “loss-prevention personnel” in the plaza’s parking lot. After a brief physical confrontation, the four teens rode off on bicycles just as deputies arrived, police said.
Two were quickly caught and a third was taken into custody shortly.
A loss-prevention officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Deputies arrested Aikeem Jones, 19, of 111 Sage Ave., charging him with second-degree robbery, petit larceny, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and possession of burglary tools.
Jones was arraigned in Clay court and sent to Onondaga County Justice Center in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Two other suspects, 14- and 15-year-old boys, were charged with robbery in the second degree, petit larceny and resisting arrest. They are due in family court next week.
The case remains under investigation and police are trying to learn the identity of the fourth teenager involved, the sheriff’s department said.
