Shakeem J. Moore, 17, is charged in the shooting death Sunday of Tavorn Hunter.
Syracuse, NY -- A second person was arrested in Sunday's shooting death of Tavorn Hunter in a neighborhood market's parking lot on Syracuse's Southside.
Shakeem J. Moore, 17, of 221 E. Castle St., was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Public Safety Building and was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree attempted robbery.
Police on Wednesday charged Derek A, Williams, 21, of 403 W. Beard Ave., with the same crimes. In papers submitted to the court during Williams' arraignment, Williams admitted arranging to buy marijuana from Hunter at the Middle East Market on Sunday. He then arranged for an accomplice to rob Hunter, the papers said. That accomplice killed Hunter, 27, after a fight, the papers said.
The person who actually robbed and shot Hunter was not named in the papers. But Moore is charged with a murder that is booked under the same docket record number as Williams' arrest.
Moore was arraigned about 9:40 a.m. this morning in Syracuse City Court. Moore was quiet during the proceeding with assigned attorney Edward Klein doing the talking.
City Court Judge Karen Uplinger entered a not guilty plea for Moore and set the next court dcate as Nov. 3. Moore was ordered held without bail.
