Bethesda, Md. -- The investigation into the death of a former Syracuse woman killed in her Bethesda, Md., home is continuing, the Montgomery County police said this morning.

Sue A. Marcum, 52, was found by a friend Monday in her home in the 6200 block of Massachusetts Avenue, police said. Her home had been broken into and Marcum suffered trauma, police said. Marcum taught at American University since 1999.

Deandrew Hamlin, who police stopped driving Marcum's Jeep Cherokee after a chase, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

"We're still labeling him a potential suspect," a police spokesman said.

Police executed a search warrant at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlin's residence in the 1300 block of Fifth Street Northwest in Washington, D.C. Police are not saying what, if anything, was found in the search.
