Manlius, NY -- Manlius police accused a 16-year-old boy of robbery following an incident this morning at the Tops Markets on West Seneca Street.
Chad E. Phillips of 4631 Glencliffe Road, Manlius, was accused of robbery third degree, a felony, petit larceny and harassment second degree.
Police were called to the supermarket at 119 W. Seneca St. shortly after midnight for a report of a larceny in progress.
Here's what police said happened.
A suspect entered the store, hid a number of items on his person and then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. Store personnel confronted the suspect. A fight ensued and in the brief struggle the suspect got away.
Police said they located the suspect and took him into custody without incident a short time later.
Phillips was sent to the Justice Center on $1,000 cash, $2,500 bond.
