Parish, NY -- A parent of an Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School student was charged Thursday with misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment and trespass, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office said today.
Brian J. Mensch, 39, of 95 Sparhawk Road, Parish, was arrested at 4 p.m. after being asked to leave the school, deputies said.
Mensch was in a meeting with the staff member at the school when he began to verbally harass the staff member, deputies said. Mensch tried to prevent the staff member from leaving the room by barring the way, deputies said.
Mensch said today that he was at the school to discuss a bullying incident in which his child was the victim. The bullying led to a fight in which his child was involved, he said.
“We went there to resolve the problem,” Mensch said.
Mensch admits he called the staff member a name but said he never kept the staff member from leaving the room and was never asked to leave the school.
Mensch said he was not arrested at the school but turned himself into the sheriff’s office after he had left the school and gone home.
Mensch was given appearance tickets and is expected to answer the charges Nov. 23 in Parish Town Court.
