Clay, NY -- A woman was taken to a local hospital this morning after a smokey fire in a laundry room at a Clay apartment complex, firefighters said.
The minor fire was contained to a dryer in the laundry room, but the fire filled the first floor with smoke, Deputy Moyers Corners Fire Chief Stephen Race said. One tenant suffered minor smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Race said.
Firefighters were called about 10 a.m. to the Norstar Apartments, 4804 Norstar Blvd., which is off of Henry Clay Boulevard. The apartment building was evacuated but residents were allowed to return.
