Syracuse, NY -- A trace of snow is possible this morning in the highest elevations in Central New York, but most people will see rain, a National Weather Service meteorologist said this morning.

But don’t take out the snow shovel just yet. Temperatures Saturday will move into the 60s and will hover there for most of next week, said Meteorologist Steven Ippoliti.

A line of mixed rain and snow at 6 a.m. was in Wayne County and is expected to move southeast across Cayuga and southwestern Onondaga County towards Cortland County, he said.

There may be some snow flakes mixed in with the rain and some of the snow may stick on grassy areas in the highest elevations, he said.

Some snow was reported in higher elevations Thursday night, but there was no accumulation, Ippoliti said.

There will be a scattered light rain throughout the day as temperatures rise.
