Update: One victim in critical condition after two shot in Syracuse

Syracuse, NY -- Two males, one a teenager, were shot Wednesday night near the intersection of Lodi Street and North Crouse Avenue, police said.

One was in critical condition at St. Joesph's Hospital Health Center.

Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan said the first man was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital by private vehicle. The second man fled three blocks to Henderson Street where he asked a resident to call 911. He was taken by Rural-Metro Ambulance to Upstate University Hospital.

Police were alerted to the crime at 8:49 p.m. Police believe the shooting took place around 8:30 p.m.

The first man had a gunshot wound to the back, Connellan said. The second had been shot in the buttocks.

Connellan said the second man's injuries were not life threatening.

Police did not release the identities of either victim, pending notification of their families. The case remains under investigation with police at the scene of the shooting.
