Syracuse, NY -- A Syracuse man was found stabbed in the 500 block of Seymour Street this morning, Syracuse police said.
Maurice Watkins, 33, was discovered unconscious and bleeding about 10:30 a.m. in a empty lot next to a home undergoing remodeling, Deputy Police Chief David Barrette said at the scene.
Police believe Watkins was involved in a fight with a group of males in a cut-through between Shonnard and Seymour streets when he was stabbed. Watkins ran north from the cut-through and crossed Seymour Street and into the lot before collapsing, Sgt. Tom Connellan said.
Watkins was taken away by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery, Connellan said. He was in serious condition Wednesday afternoon.
Police down the 500 block of Seymour Street into the afternoon while they continue their investigation, Barrette said.
Anyone with any information on the stabbing is asked to call police at 442-5222.
