Cicero, NY -- The U.S. Army has awarded SRC Inc. a $500,000 contract to develop a new radar system.
The Omni-Directional Weapon Location radar system, or OWL, will provide the Army with the ability to detect, track and locate mortar, cannon and rocket firing positions over a wide area. The system provides surveillance over a hemispherical coverage area, a capability that is not currently achievable with existing weapon location radars, the company said.
The contract was awarded by the U.S. Army's Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate.
SRC, formerly known as Syracuse Research Corp., is a research and development company serving the defense, environment and intelligence markets.
