Syracuse, NY -- About 2,000 volunteers pounded the pavement Sunday to reduce hunger in CROP Walks across Central New York.
So far this year, more than 2,600 have participated in those local walks, raising nearly $150,000 to help feed people across the region and around the world. By the end of the last walk, which will be Nov. 7, organizers predict to collect $180,000 to $185,000 across the region.
Of that, 25 percent will help local food pantries, while the rest will help fight global hunger through the interfaith Church World
Service.
Upstate director Douglas Anderson said this year’s results were on par with a year ago in Onondaga, Cayuga, Madison and Oswego counties.
