Some residents lost electricity this morning after a dump truck became tangled in power lines on Route 80 in Apulia.Town of Fabius, NY -- Fire and police officials are waiting for a wrecker to arrive to right a dump truck that is caught in power lines and hung up on two wheels on Route 80 in the Fabius hamlet of Apulia.
The incident started about 7:40 a.m. when the dump truck emerged from a driveway opposite from where Route 91 turns south off Route 80.
The driver, whose name was not available, turned left onto Route 80. The driver apparently didn't realize the dump truck bed was up, said Second Assistant Chief Jim Herlihy of the Apulia Fire Department. The top of the bed snagged on overhead power lines and the truck came up on its passenger-side wheels.
No one was hurt, said Fabius Fire Chief Ron Wheatley.
Electricity has been cut off to National Grid customers along Route 80 as authorities await the arrival of the wrecker, Wheatley said. Fire police are diverting traffic off Route 80 at Berry Road on the west and Berwyn Road on the east.
