Syracuse, NY – Gas prices in the Syracuse area shot up about a dime over the past week with a gallon of regular averaging around $2.89, two price monitoring services report.
SyracuseGasBuddy.com this morning reported the local cost of regular at $2.885 a gallon, down half a penny from Sunday but up from $2.79 a gallon from a week ago.
Gas hasn’t been this costly since the week before Memorial Day, according to the pricing service.
The AAA motor club’s Fuel Gauge Report pegged the local average this morning at $2.898 a gallon, up from $2.794 last Monday. Still, it could have been worse – only Rochester, at $2.892 a gallon, had cheaper gas than Syracuse among the eight metropolitan areas across the state tracked by AAA.
