Syracuse, NY -- The flag of Taiwan, the Republic of China, will be raised at Syracuse City Hall Friday morning.
The city announced that Mayor Stephanie A. Miner will be joined by County Executive Joanie Mahoney, Congressman Dan Maffei, D-DeWitt, and members of the Taiwanese community to raise the Taiwanese flag at City Hall to celebrate Double Ten Day, which commemorates the start of the Wuchang Uprising of October 10, 1911.
The uprising led led to the establishment of the Republic of China, now known as Taiwan.
Proclamations will be presented as well, the city said in a release.
