Syracuse, NY – A 29-year-old Syracuse man was charged Monday with robbery and weapons possession after an employee of the store he was trying to rob shot him, police said.
Rayshawn Johnson, 29, of 111 McAllister Ave., Apartment 2, is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Syracuse City Court on charges of first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, according to a Syracuse police arrest report.
Police said early this morning that a male suspect, whom they did not name, attempted to commit an armed robbery shortly before 8:50 p.m. Monday at Los Amigos grocery store, 204 W. Brighton Ave. The suspect was shot in the torso by a man working at the store. The suspect was treated at Upstate University Hospital and released, then was taken to the Justice Center Jail, police said.
The arrest report said Johnson was arrested about 10:16 p.m. Monday at 204 W. Brighton Ave.
