Salina, NY -- Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies used a helicopter and police dogs as they looked for people involved in a shooting at an apartment complex on Old Liverpool Road in Salina Thursday night.

Police responded to a call at 10:45 at Onondaga Lake Townhomes at 151 Old Liverpool Road. No one was hurt, the sheriff’s department said in a release. It said shots were fired after a dispute.

Ten police cars lined the road and yellow police tape marked out a large square that included the driveway to complex and the first apartment building on the left side of the driveway.

For the better part of an hour, a helicopter circled overhead, shining it bright light on the ground below. Shortly before midnight, the helicopter left the area.

Uniformed deputies put down five or six evidence markers, the type often used to show where a shell casing was found, along the walkway to the first apartment.

Across the street from the scene of the shooting, a deputy and police dog could be seen search the grounds of The Hearth at Greenpoint, a senior living complex.

In a statement, the sheriff’s department said investigators were working to identify and locate the parties involved in the shooting, and that there was no indication the incident was related to shootings earlier in the day in Clay and Oswego County.

Police remain at the scene.
