Syracuse, NY -- Parolees, take note. That ankle bracelet the authorities are making you wear has Global Positioning System tracking capabilities.
Theodore Price, 40, of 340 Montgomery St., learned that shortly after midnight Wednesday morning as he was taken into police custody in a back yard on the 600 block of Fellows Avenue.
Price is on parole following a prison sentence for a burglary conviction, according to the state Department of Correctional Services website.
State parole officers contacted police after tracking Price through the GPS unit in his ankle bracelet Tuesday night, police records state. Price was out past his probation curfew of 9 p.m. and a distance from his home in the downtown YMCA, parole officers told police.
Police found Price right where the GPS system said he was, police said. Price was dressed in a black knit cap, black jacket and black pants and was carrying black gloves, a flashlight and two pocket knives, police said.
The tracking system showed he had been in two houses, one on Miles Avenue and one on Fellows Avenue, police said. Both houses had unlocked doors, but nothing appeared to have been taken, police said.
Price was charged with trespassing and possession of burglar tools, both misdemeanors.
