Syracuse, NY -- A robbery on Butternut Street Monday ended with three people in custody, including the robbery victim, Syracuse police said.
Deputy Police Chief Joe Cecile gave this account:
When police began investigating the robbery, victim Chad Walker, 30, told police he was selling bootleg DVDs in the 600 block of Butternut Street when he was approached after 6 p.m. by a man who said his girlfriend was interested in buying some. The man gave Walker a John Street address, Walker said.
Walker said when he went to that address, he was robbed by two men with a gun of his backpack, which contained a laptop computer, computer equipment, a cell phone and other items.
A pawn shop called police to report someone tried to sell items that matched the description of Walker’s property and gave police the license of the vehicle they drove.
From the plate number, police located two suspects.
Lamont Pullins Jr., 19, of 402 Kirk Ave., and Cushan M. Harvey, 19, of 1815 E. Fayette St., were both charged with robbery, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property, both misdemeanors.
During the investigation, police learned that Walker first approached the two suspects trying to sell them DVDs and drugs. The men threatened Walker with a knife, not a gun, and the robbery took place in the 600 block of Butternut Street. Police also found drugs in the recovered backpack.
Walker, of 26 Green Acres Drive, Central Square, was charged with falsely reporting an incident, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, all misdemeanors.
