The average price of a gallon of regular jumped 2.4 cents to stand at $2.76 on Sunday, SyracuseGasPrices.com reported. That was 6.5 cents a gallon higher than last year at this time, but 5.3 cents lower than a month ago, the service reported.
The national average was $2.73 a gallon, down two-tenths of a penny from last Sunday, SyracuseGasPrices.com said.
Similarly, the AAA motor club’s Fuel Gauge Report this morning posted a Syracuse average of $2.762 a gallon for regular, up 2.4 cents from last week but down 6.1 cents from a month ago.
Only the Albany-Schenectady-Troy metro area, at $2.735 a gallon, posted a lower average among the eight regions across New York monitored by AAA.
