Syracuse, NY – Police are investigating two shootings this morning on Syracuse’s Near West Side.
In the first, Rashawn Mitchell told police he was arguing with two men about 4:17 a.m. outside 310 Putnam St. when he heard shots and felt pain in his upper right leg. The shots were not fired by the men with whom he was arguing but he did not see where they came from, he told police.
Mitchell was shot once and was taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment. His injury was not considered life-threatening, police said.
Police responded again about two hours later to Putnam and Bradley streets to investigate a shots-fired complaint. Investigators found six shell casings in the street and two more in front of 318 Putnam St. The house there and the window of a sport utility vehicle parked in the driveway had been hit by bullets, police said.
Police asked witnesses to these incidents to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 442-5222.
