Syracuse, NY – “A Love Letter to Syracuse,” the art project aimed at turning rusty railroad bridges on Syracuse’s Near West Side into conversation pieces, will be unveiled during ceremonies at 4 p.m. Monday.

The event will take place at the green space between Walton and West streets in Armory Square if the weather is good. The rain location is The Warehouse, 350 W. Fayette St. Speakers will include Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli, D-Syracuse, Marilyn Higgins of Syracuse University’s Office of Community Engagement and Economic Development, and the artist, Steve Powers.

Powers’ crew painted phases intended to provide inspiration and spark conversation onto three old train bridges in the neighborhood. He coined the phrases after speaking with residents about their feelings about the city and their neighborhood.

Syracuse University and its Near Westside Initiative, COLAB and Connective Corridor programs are hosting the unveiling.
