An autopsy on a 13-year-old Syracuse boy who apparently suffered an accidental drug overdose Sunday morning showed no signs of trauma, state police said today.
Results of toxicology tests are expected to take longer, state police Sgt. Susan Lockyer said. Police are also investigating how the teenager obtained the painkillers.
Matt Kappelmeier had left a friend's house on Roswell Avenue around midnight Saturday, planning to walk home. He was found about 12 hours later on a bench in the home's backyard.
Friends said the teenager had ingested the painkiller OxyContin earlier in the day and had used the drug before. Kappelmeier would have started eighth grade at Onondaga Central Junior-Senior High School this year.
