Town of Lee, NY -- A man walked into a Nice and Easy store in Oneida County Friday afternoon and told the clerks he had a bomb in his truck.

Now, he's in the Oneida County Jail accused of making a false report and driving while intoxicated.

Here’s what New York State Police said happened.

Ronald E. Capron, 47, of Snooks Corner Road, Amsterdam, walked into the store on Route 26 in the Town of Lee at about 3:55 p.m. and told clerks he had a bomb inside his truck, which was parked in the store parking lot.

State police and Oneida County Sheriff’s deputies responding to the scene found that Capron was highly intoxicated and that the report of a bomb in his truck was made up.

Capron was taken to the State Police barracks in Lee, where a breath test showed his blood alcohol level was 0.18 percent.

State police accused him of driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and falsely reporting an incident.

He was arraigned in the Town of Lee Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
