Fenner, NY – The man who died Wednesday in a one-car accident on Oxbow Road was Joshua B. Marji, Madison County Sheriff Allen Riley said this afternoon.
Marji, 18, of 3788 Prospect St., Oneida, had completed a morning class at Morrisville State College before the 10:34 a.m. accident that claimed his life, Riley said in a prepared statement.
Investigators believe Marji lost control of his car on a curve as he was driving north on Oxbow Road north of Mile Strip Road. The car left the west side of the road, continued over an earthen bank, hit several small trees, landed on its roof and burst into flames.
The victim was dead at the scene and his remains were so badly burned that officials were unable to identify them, saying after several hours of investigation only that they believed that they were those of a male Morrisville State student.
Officials withheld Marji’s name until the Onondaga County Medical Examiner made a positive identification through dental records this afternoon, Undersheriff Doug Bailey said.
