In a White House press conference Monday, President Barack Obama defended his efforts to restart the economy while blasting Republicans for blocking a $30 billion small-business tax cut and lending initiative that he said will encourage small businesses to hire and expand.

Not so, said syracuse.com user noisedome. Here is noisedome's full comment:

"In a $14 trillion dollar economy $30 billion will do little to change anything.

The community banks receiving the funds (some, who are already in financial trouble) will simply use the money to stem the tide. Reducing the $30 billion to an even more insignificant number of dollars, and thus reducing the results.

Remember, November is coming and the rock star would love to be able to tout this as an accomplishment for political gain, and votes."
