Oswego, NY – The Coast Guard has cited a person with boating under the influence but still is not identifying any of the three people whose boat crashed into the Oswego breakwall on Saturday.
Meanwhile, officials worked this afternoon to raise the 23-foot recreational boat, which sank following the collision.
The boaters, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the high-speed crash, are not being identified yet because the incident remains under investigation, Petty Officer 1st Class Jadon Sprague said.
However, one has received a federal citation for boating under the influence, Sprague said. A Coast Guard hearing officer will decide whether the citation is merited and levy a penalty, he said. The cited person can challenge the finding, he said.
Coast Guard officials previously had said that alcohol may have played a role in the accident near the Oswego Lighthouse.
The Oswego city police are investigating the incident with the Coast Guard. Police officials could not be reached for comment this afternoon.
