Catskill, NY — An upstate New York county legislator has been accused of breaking a law he helped create that prohibits minors from drinking on private property.

Police say Keith Valentine has been arrested on charges of unlawfully dealing with a child and violating county law.

Police say the Republican leader of the Greene County Legislature and his wife Cynthia served alcohol to minors at a July 4th party.

Police say the mother of an 18-year-old who drank at the party filed a complaint against Valentine.

Valentine voted in favor of a local law in 2007 that makes it a violation for someone to allow a party in their home where alcohol is served to someone under the age of 21.

Valentine did not answer calls to his home or office.

The Daily Mail has mug shots of the Valentines and more details on the arrest: "Police said the couple provided alcohol to “numerous underage teens” at a 4th of July party and graduation celebration for their daughter that occurred at their residence on Greene Street in the Village of Catskill."
